Samsung Galaxy to be priced at Rs 28,990.
After the launch of “HTC Hero” in India, Samsung today said it has partnered with “Tata DOCOMO” for launching its first Android handset ‘Galaxy I7500’ in India.
“Samsung Galaxy” comes to India with a price tag of Rs 28,990. It is the third Android handset to land in India after “HTC Magic” and “HTC Hero”. We are also expecting HTC to launch another Android handset “Tattoo” in India soon with a comparatively lower price tag than other Android handsets.
Samsung also plans to launch more Android handsets in India later this year. “This is first of the block. There would be more this year. Android is a very serious operating system on which we will build more phones,” Samsung India Electronics General Manager (Marketing) Asim Warsi told reporters here.
Under the exclusive tie-up, Samsung and Tata DOCOMO would launch the touch-screen handset and provide 500 MB free download per month for a period of six months in the circles where the telco is operating.
Samsung Galaxy (I7500) offers users access to the full suite of Google Mobile Services, including Google Search™, Google Maps™, Gmail™, YouTube™, Google Calendar™, Google Talk™ and Android MarketTM. The integrated GPS receiver enables comprehensive use of Google Maps features, such as My Location, Google Latitude, local search and detailed route description. Thousands of other applications are available in the Android Market.
Along with supporting a 5-megapixel camera and various multimedia codec formats, the I7500 also provides a long battery life (1500mAh) and generous memory capacity (Internal Memory of 8 GB and Expandable External Memory up to 32 GB) to enjoy all the applications and multimedia content. The phone also boasts a slim and compact design—it is a mere 11.9mm thick.
