Lenovo LePhone will be available across 1,600 China Unicom outlets and 3,600 Lenovo retail stores in China from today.
It is being aimed at Apple’s iPhone, it is priced at about 2,500 yuan ($366), roughly half the price of the iPhone 3G, the latest version of the Apple mobile.
The LePhone will also offer Wi- Fi functionality along with many other features, something the China version of the iPhone currently does not.
Lenovo said smartphones will make up 10-20 percent of its revenue in five years. The company wants to sell millions of its 3G mobile products in one to five years, and tens of millions in the future, president and COO Rory Read said at an earlier media conference.
