Pantech today released its third and the lightest Android phone in South Korea. Pantech Vega will be launched in South Korea via SK Telecom at the end of this month, the company said.
And, it will not be limited to South Korea only, Vega will also rolled out in the United States and other markets, after making some modifications, its executives said. “We are in talks with AT&T and Verizon to launch the model in the United States,” an executive added.
The phone features a 3.7-inch AMOLED screen, 1 gigahertz Snapdragon processor, Android 2.1 and a 3D UI, Pre-load T-Cash payment system and weighs just just 114 grams. The will come in four colors – white, black, pink and gold-brown.
Patench plans to introduce around 16 smartphones next year globally, most of them to be based on Android, said Park Byeong-yeop, vice chairman of Pantech.
“Pantech plans to raise market shares up to 30 per cent in the local smartphone sector and sell at least 500,000 units of the new phone,” Park Byung-yeop, vice president of Pantech, told reporters during the launching show of the new smartphone.
