An LG executive has told CNET that his company is in talks with Google to manufacturer next Nexus smartphone. While, HTC and Samsung have already got the chance to do so, LG is still waiting to get the opportunity to introduce the first and reference smartphone of an Android version.
There has been no final commitment so far. We have also heard from a separate source that competition is very hard for getting the chance to make next Nexus phone this time. Samsung, which has manufactured two Nexus phones so far – Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, is also in the fray. Google wants Samsung to use hardware according to the wish of Mountain View, but Korean manufacturer is adamant on its own specs. If Samsung declines and LG accepts these terms, we might see the next Nexus phone from LG.
“We’re heavily in discussions and working on it.”
– Ramchan Woo, head of LG’s smartphone division told CNET
The only problem with LG chances is that company favors customization and wants to apply its own build on the Nexus phone. But as we all know Nexus devices have been traditionally vanilla Android and act as the reference devices for app developers as well as hardware partners.
We will have to wait and see what comes out of these talks and which is the next company to give us a Nexus phone?
