Rumored photo of Google Nexus Tablet sneaks onto the Internet [Not for the skeptical or weak at heart]

Android rumors sure are fun aren’t they? I’ll warn you now. If you’re even the slightest bit skeptical, you may want to save yourself the next few minutes from reading this article. If you’re open-minded, or even if you’re just looking for something to bring up next time your hanging around the water cooler, this is for you.

Word has it, Google is in cahoots with Asus to bring fierce competition to the likes of the Amazon Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet with a 7-inch “Pure Google Experience” tablet. The Nexus moniker alone will surely contribute to high sales for the device once it is released. According to PocketNow, what you are looking at above is a leaked image of the Google Nexus Tablet.

Now, do I believe this really is the Nex-Tab? Well, not really. The device doesn’t really look to me like one that would qualify as mid-range like we’ve been hearing the tablet would be. In my opinion, it actually looks like the pictured device would be too pricey to fall into that category.

First of all, the only visible on-screen icons are for Google products — none of the third party apps or widgets that you’d expect to see on a Samsung, Motorola, or even Viewsonic tablet. It’s about as naked of an Android experience as you could hope to find on a modern tablet. Secondly — and this seems to be the most compelling evidence — the Ice Cream Sandwich soft keys and pictured time of 4:00AM are a dead match for the classic Samsung Galaxy Nexus render with muted rainbow wallpaper.

The folks over at AndroidCommunity apparently think this might be the 7.7-inch prototype tablet Toshiba was showing off at CES, but their guess is as good as ours, since it’s obviously too early to tell.

What do you think? Also, what specs and features would you like to see in the finalized Nexus Tablet? Drop us a comment in the thread below to share your thoughts.

We will be keeping an eye on this story with the rest of the world and will surely bring you the updates as they go public. Until then, keep your Internet dial tuned right here to!
