HTC is reportedly planning to launch a new mid-level Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone code-named Proto very soon.
According to a report in Stuff, the smartphone will come with 1GHz dual core processor, 768MB RAM, 4GB of user accessible internal storage and 4-inch WVGA display.
It will be running on Android 4.0 with Sense 4.0 on-board. Other specifications include 114 gram weight, 9.3mm thickness, 1,650mAh battery, a microSIM card, microSD slot, Beats Audio, Bluetooth, and 5MP rear camera with LED flash.
Separately, we have learnt from credible sources that HTC is planning to launch a Desire series smartphone next week and it is very possible that we see Proto being launched under the Desire moniker.
The company has already launched two Desire series smartphones this year – Desire V and Desire C, both are running on ICS and cater to two very important segments – dual-SIM users and budget buyers and if priced correctly, this upcoming Desire model can also become a very good contender for a decent mid-range device.
