News is coming in that Google has cancelled its October 29 press event in New York on account of Hurricane Sandy.

Google in an emailed statement to Marketing Land
The Verge adds that Google’s Android event was set to take place on a waterfront pier in NY, which is now in an evacuation zone. So, there was no way Google could have gone ahead with the event.
The search giant was expected to unveil new Nexus devices and Android 4.2 at this event. This is no word on when we are going to see these announcements now.
This is the second consecutive time that a Nexus launch has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances, last year too Galaxy Nexus launch was delayed to due to the death of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.
For those of you unaware of Hurricane Sandy:
Hurricane Sandy, a deadly storm, is expected to begin seriously affecting heavily populated coastal areas in the East US as early as Sunday, reports CNN. The District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia New Jersey, North Carolina and New York have already declared states of emergency.
Another report by Reuters added:
The late-season storm has been dubbed “Frankenstorm” by some weather watchers because it will combine elements of a tropical cyclone and a winter storm and is forecast to reach the U.S. coast close to Halloween.
