One of the features introduced in yesterday’s HTC One X+ announcement was the HTC Get Started, a new service to help you setup your HTC Sense 4+ smartphone. While, HTC One X+ is still a few weeks away from market availability, HTC Get Started service webpage is already live, and India’s omission from supported countries list caught our eye.
Here is how HTC describes it
A new feature in the HTC One X+ is HTC Get Started, a new web service that guides the user painlessly through the set-up and personalisation process from a desktop web browser. Designed to enhance the experience of setting up a phone for the first time, this feature ensures that users will get the most out of their new phone from the beginning. With the touch of a button, the user’s phone will reflect the settings and apps that were chosen on the Web.
So, basically HTC Get Started allows new users to personalise their phone directly from a web browser, like adding all the account details for Google, Exchange, any other email or Dropbox, or choosing a style from pre-defined styles. Users will also be able to add ringtones, apps and widgets directly from their web browser.
Then, all they have to do is login to HTC account on their new phones and all the personalisation will immediately appear on the device. Cool right? But if you are living in India or any of the countries not present in the following list, you will not get the service at launch.
Chances are that HTC will soon add support for other countries, but it is not there right now.
- Czech Republic
- Saudi Arabia
- South Africa
- United Kingdom
Currently only available to One X+ users, HTC plans to back-port it to all One series phones, as well as the most popular Sense 3.5 phones. So, clearly it seems like a big loos for Indian users
