HCL launches ME U2 Android tablet for INR 5,999

HCL has announced the launch of its new Android tablet – Me U2 in the country today at a press conference in New Delhi.  Part of company’s Me series, the tablet has been priced at just INR 5,999. According to HCL, Me U2 is now available across the country.

The company also showcased ME V1 and ME Y3 Android tablets at the event. Both the tablets are already selling in the Indian market for the last few weeks for INR 7,999 and INR 11,999 respectively.

HCL Me U2 features a 7-inch display with 800x480p resolution. It also comes with Android 4.0, 1GHz processor and Mali 400 GPU. Other features of this budget tablet include Wi-Fi connectivity, 3000 mAh battery, 1GB RAM, 4GB of internal storage, and 3G support via USB dongle. The tablet also support Google Play unlike HCL’s other Android tablets, which only come with company’s app store on-board.

For your video chatting needs, there is a VGA front camera on-board, however you won’t get any rear camera on the tablet.

HCL Me U2 will be competing with Videocon’s recently launched VT 71, Micromax’s Funbook Infinity and BSNL Penta IS701C tablets. Considering the pricing and features, HCL seems to be overpriced and the only positive Me U2 has over the other tablet is – 1GB RAM, rest all the features are same or inferior.
