Today’s HTC One announcement in London/ New York was not just about HTC One smartphone, the Taiwanese manufacturer also introduced a brand new version of Sense user interface (well it is more than that) in the form of 5.0.
Sense 5.0 brings several new features of the HTC One (will be available in future phones too) and one of these is Blinkfeed – HTC’s very own Flipboard competitor.
HTC Blinkfeed brings content to home-screen, and this content comes from 1400 content partners that HTC has brought in along with users’ social media feeds. Blinkfeed is no app but sort of a widget that shows the latest and user’s favourite contents right on home-screen along with latest feed from his/her social accounts.
“Blinkfeed brings previously hidden content to the home screen, so you can see the things that are most interesting to you at a glance, without having to open a series of apps. Already, we have 1,400 content partners registered including the AOL properties (Huffington Post, Moviefone, Engadget, TechCrunch, and more) the Associated Press, and ESPN,” HTC noted in a blog post.
“Blinkfeed combines your social channels with news content from our partners to generate a personalized feed that shows you uniquely relevant content every time you turn on your phone,” company added.
The news feeds are not limited to English language, which is necessary considering the company aims to release HTC One in over 85 markets.
