Huawei India is all set to launch its first sub-INR 5,000 Android smartphone in the country in the next two weeks. Part of company’s Ascend series, the smartphone is dubbed as Y201D. It is currently on pre-order at various online shopping websites and is likely to be priced at INR 4,999.
Huawei Ascend Y210D packs 1GHz Qualcomm Cortex A5 processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread and a 3.5-inch HVGA display. It also comes with a 1700 mAh battery, dual-SIM connectivity, 3G and 2MP rear fixed focus camera. There is no front camera on-board.
Ascend Y210D features 256MB of RAM, 512MB of on-board storage and microSD card slot. There has been suddenly an increase in the Android smartphone launches in sub-INR 5K price-bracket and every company is planning to tap the growing number of budget smartphone buyers or first time consumers who don’t want to spend too much money.
According to product listings on Flipkart and Saholic, Huawei will start shipping Ascend Y210D beginning February 28, 2013.
