LG’s Head of Mobile Marketing Won Kim has revealed to Engadget that LG will launch its Optimus G successor in Q3 this year. If the recent benchmark leaks are any indication, the successor will be dubbed as Optimus G 2.
Kim also hinted that the smartphone will keep a display size closer to 5-inches and would not wander in the 5.5-inch category. Some of the other vague remarks that he made included that the Optimus G successor will be “something different and something unique.”
LG Optimus G 2 will be released globally, added Kim.
This news takes the possible announcement of LG Optimus G 2 on May 1 in New York out of question, so, we will most probably see Optimus G Pro at the event for the US market.
The benchmark listing that we talked about earlier in the post had revealed some of the key specifications of Optimus G 2 and that it will arrive on T-Mobile in the US. Here is a look at those specs:
- 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) processor
- Adreno 330 GPU
- Full HD 1920x1080p display
- Android 4.2.2
