Google’s Game Center and GameCircle counterpart might emerge at the I/O dev conference next week. Dubbed as Google Play Games, the service was spotted in the latest Play Services APK tear-down.
Folks at Android Police, who performed the tear-down of this Play Services APK, found quite a few details about the Play Games. The APK contains references to achievements, in-game chat, matchmaking, invites, cloud save syncing, and leaderboards, along with the Play Games’ green controller-shaped icon.
This is very similar to what was spotted in the MyGlass Android app tear-down. As you can expect, the Play Games will have deep integration with Google+ social network, which is likely to handle all the profile and sharing related actions for Google Play Games.
As there were only references to Play Games features, a lot of questions still need to be answered – like when it is rolling out, which games will compatible with it or how the developer can integrate Play Games in their games or is Google bringing their own games and so on.
We will get the answers very soon as Google I/O is just three days away and Google is likely to go in detail about the Google Play Games at the keynote.
