Huawei has officially announced its new Ascend-series smartphone P6 today. With just 6.18mm thick chassis, the company claims it to be the slimmest smartphone in the world.
According to a press release issued by the company, Huawei Ascend P6 will first go on sale in China beginning this month, followed by July-release in select European markets. Other countries will get the phone on a later date.
Huawei Ascend P6 features a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 4.7-inch HD in-cell display, 5MP front-facing camera, and Android 4.2.2. The phone also comes with 2,000 mAh battery, 8MP rear camera with BSI sensor BSI camera and F2.0 aperture.
On the software front, the phone packs Huawei’s Emotion UI, which has been improved for inclusion in Ascend P6. The user interface includes updates to Uni-Home including enhanced security, Huawei’s Me Widget, MagicTouch, and SmartReading. It also comes with support for panoramic shoot, facial recognition photography functions and Airshare, which allows users to easily sharing documents or even play multiplayer games with minimal lag.
“The HUAWEI Ascend P6 is a star among smartphones with its industry-leading design, high-quality camera, and intuitive user interface, Huawei’s proprietary Emotion UI,” said Richard Yu, Chief Executive Officer, Huawei Consumer Business Group. “Building on the success of our Ascend P series of fashion smartphones, the HUAWEI Ascend P6 provides unsurpassed technology and a design that is simply stunning.”
Pricing: According to Huawei, the phone will be sold at 499 euros in Europe. We expect the pricing to be similar in other countries.
