Remember the redesigned Google Maps, which were introduced at Google I/O 2013 in May, the Android version of the same is now rolling out to Android 4.0+ users via Google Play.
According to Google, the roll-out will continue over the next few weeks, so not everyone will get the updated version right-away.
To remind you, the new version features a revamped user interface, improved navigation with live traffic updates and dynamic re-routing, as well as new Explore feature.
Check out the full change-log below:
New design for Android phones and tablets
Enhanced navigation including live traffic updates, incident reports and dynamic rerouting
Explore: A new way to browse and discover popular local places to eat, drink, shop, play and sleep
Should I install the APKs floating around?
We would suggest not to. There are two reasons – first, there seems to be multiple variations of the APK depending on the screen resolution and API version and you might not get the right one for your device, which would hamper the experience; second, we all have heard about the recent master key bug, we don’t want to scare for no reason, but unless you trust the source of the APK, don’t just randomly install it from anywhere.
