ZTE might not have launched any high-end smartphones in the Indian market till now but it aims to capture 20-25 per cent of the high-end smartphone market share in the country, reports Press Trust of India.
“In the first year, we will just demonstrate the products and introduce new devices in India. Going ahead, we are sure that we will have a 20-25 per cent share of the smartphone segment in the next 3-4 years, given the quality and features of our products,” ZTE India Vice-President (Handsets) Yuan Kang told PTI.
ZTE on Friday announced its first self-branded smartphones in the country. It told Business Standard that it plans to further expand its smartphone portfolio by the end of 2013.
“We will build further on our handset portfolio in the months to come. By the year end, we aim to have our pan-India presence with the smartphones,” Xu Dejun, chief executive officer, ZTE India told BS.
The company plans to sell 1 million units of these smartphones (and any other phones that debut in the next one year) in the country. ZTE will be spending around INR 30 crores on the branding and marketing of its smartphones in the next six months to help achieve the sales target.
