Computer peripherals maker Intex has jumped in the high-end smartphone market with the launch of its Intex Aqua i7 Android phone today. Carrying a price-tag of INR 21,900, the new smartphone sports a 5-inch full HD 1080p display and is powered by 1.5GHz quad-core processor from MediaTek.
Intex Aqua i7 runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and comes with 32GB of on-board storage and 2GB of RAM. On the imaging front, a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera are present on the smartphone. The only place where we think Intex has gone wrong is the meagre 2000 mAh battery on-board. The 5-inch FHD display on the phone is going to have a huge battery consumption and the company should have ideally included at least 3,000mAh or even 2500 mAh battery on the phone. However, considering that it is obviously a re-branded Chinese OEM device, Intex probably didn’t have any input in what hardware was present in the phone.
“Intex Aqua i7 also comes pre-loaded with “Matrabhasha” – a multi-lingual application introduced by Intex in 2013, which allows a user to operate the phone in preferred regional language supporting upto 22 regional languages including: Hindi, Urdu, Tamil, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, Gujarati, Sanskrit, Maithili, Marathi, Bodo, Santhali, Manipuri, Sindhi, Dogri, Konkani, Nepali and more,” Intex noted in a press release.
According to Intex, Aqua i7 will be available in Pearl White and Pearl Black colours beginning September 9. The company is also bundling a few free accessories with the phone including a flip cover and screen-proctector.
“After an overwhelming response to Aqua i5, we are excited to launch our flagship offering Aqua i7. Intex takes pride in consistently introducing quality and performance oriented products for its consumers. With the launch of Aqua i7, we are foraying into the premium handsets segment and are confident of providing the best user experience to consumers who are looking for a device with pleasing aesthetics designed to offer power packed performance,” said Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, Senior GM-Mobility Division, Intex Technologies (I) Ltd.
