Supply issues to blame for presence of S4 Pro in HTC One max: Report

HTC One maxAccording to a report in Digitimes, HTC has been forced to use the older Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor in its upcoming One max smartphone because of the supply issues with Snapdragon 800 CPU.

As all major smartphone manufacturers including LG, Sony and Samsung are using Snapdragon 800 in one or the other smartphones, HTC being a comparatively smaller vendor has been left with no supply of Snapdragon 800.

Digitimes also notes that some other sources claim that there is no problem with the supply of Snapdragon 800 and HTC wants to reduce the component cost by using an older SoC. If true, this strategy doesn’t make sense, HTC has always said that it does not want to shed its premium smartphone maker image and also, compared to more potent competitors like Note 3, HTC One max will have no chance with an older chip inside.

There is no way to certainly state the reason behind this step from HTC, we hope to hear something from the company when it introduces HTC One max.

To remind you, HTC One max is rumoured to feature a 5.9-inch 1080p display, 2GB of RAM, Ultrapixel camera, 16GB of storage and Android 4.2.2 with Sense 5.5.
