LG has announced that it will pre-load BlackBerry Messenger on its G Pro Lite smartphones as a part of its new partnership with BlackBerry. LG will also offer this messenger app from its App Manager.
“BBM is widely used throughout the Middle East, Africa and Indonesia where smartphone users tend to engage heavily in social networking,” said Kevin Shin, Vice President of Marketing for Asia, the Middle East and CIS countries of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The LG G Pro Lite offers an optimized BBM experience with its large, high quality display and embedded Stylus Pen.”
LG is the first of the bigger Android smartphone vendors to tie-up with BlackBerry to pre-install BBM on one of its devices. Until now, only the smaller vendors like Micromax, Spice and Celkon had gotten in such arrangements.
The biggest Android smartphone vendor – Samsung also has a partnership with BlackBerry but it is to offer BBM via its app store in select African markets.
