The successor to HTC’s One smartphone is expected to be announced at a press event in late March, revealed @evleaks earlier today. According to this leaker, the announcement will be made in New York, which is increasingly becoming the destination of choice for most high-profile smartphone announcements.
Along with the @evleaks’ revelations about the HTC M8 announcement, an alleged image of the on-screen Android navigation button present in the smartphone has appeared online. Shared by Chinese social networking website Weibo, this image confirms that HTC has indeed decided to go for virtual buttons instead of the usual physical or capacitive buttons.
HTC One successor will be the first smartphone from the Taiwanese manufacturer to come with virtual buttons like Nexus devices. As you can see in the above image, HTC is keeping the same button design, which it has used in the past flagship smartphones like HTC One and One X.
In related news, @evleaks has also stated that HTC is working on a mini version of HTC One successor as well. There are no specifics known about this mini variant so far but it is in development and should be available a few months after the HTC M8 release.
In addition, a rumour coming from XDA TV Producer & Moderator Shen Ye suggests that HTC will be releasing M8 in four colour options, which is good to know because traditionally there have been only one or two colour options for HTC flagship products at launch and new colours were introduced on a later date.
