News originating from Chinese business news site TMT Post suggests that HTC is working on a plastic variant of HTC One M8 smartphone, which it will release in China next month. The phone is said to be packing the same specifications, which are present in HTC One M8.
According to TMT Post, HTC wants to undercut the prices of other flagship models like Galaxy S5 with this plastic variant. The publication notes that the plastic variant of One M8 will cost around 3000 yuan ($483), whereas the normal metal-clad One M8 costs 5299 yuan in China, where it went on sale recently.
To remind you, HTC One M8 features a 5-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, microSD card slot and Android 4.4. The phone also packs 2600 mAh battery, NFC, LTE, rear duo-camera, 5MP front camera and the usual connectivity options.
There is no word on whether HTC plans to launch the plastic One M8 in markets outside China or it is going to remain as one of the HTC’s China-exclusive smartphones.
