Along with the new Acer Iconia Tab 8, Liquid E700 and E600 devices, Acer has also unveiled the new Z200 entry-level smartphone today. It will be showcased at Computex 2014 trade fair next week in Taipei.
The smartphone packs 4-inch WVGA display, 1GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6572M processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, and 1300 mAh battery. Acer Liquid Z200 runs on Android 4.4 and includes 3G, dual-SIM support, and 2MP rear camera with fixed focus.
The company is targeting the feature-phone users with the Z200, who want to upgrade to smartphones but it falls way behind Moto E, which is the main competitor to the phone.
“Designed for users of all ages with tight budget or looking to purchase a secondary or a vacation device, this 4-inch WVGA display entry smartphone with optional Dual-SIM make it the ideal compact colorful easy-to-use Android 4.4 (KitKat) smartphone. In addition, an immersive sound experience is provided via DTS Studio Sound available previously only on Acer mainstream smartphones,” Acer noted in a press release.
According to Acer, Z200 will be released in Q3 in Titanium Black, Essential White, Fragrant Pink, Sky Blue, and Sunshine Yellow colour options.
There is no word on pricing but it will probably be around $120. Update: Acer says the single-SIM version of the phone will retail around 79 euros, no word on the dual-SIM version pricing.
