After two years of launching on iOS, Cooliris recently released its Android app in select markets across the world. Starting today, the app is also available for the Indian Android users.
Cooliris for Android gives users a complete gallery app, where not only the photos stored in the device are available but also the ones present on various cloud-storage solutions, image-sharing websites, and social networks. At launch, Cooliris for Android can connect 15 most popular photo sources like Flickr, Google Drive, Facebook and Instagram.
“With an Android app being our number one user request, today we are excited to bring the next generation of seamless aggregation and selective sharing of media to Android users,” said Soujanya Bhumkar, Cooliris CEO and co-founder.
“Android users can now enjoy a rich contextual experience on their mobile devices, bringing all their siloed photos into one beautiful app. The Cooliris media app in conjunction with another upcoming brand new app for next-gen messaging will provide a complementary media plus messaging experience,” Bhumkar added.
According to Cooliris team, they had to defer Indian launch of the app slightly as they wanted to make the app optimised for India-specific Android devices. Cooliris should work great on any Android 4.1+ device regardless of the manufacturer.
Trivia: The stock Android gallery app, which you might have used on your Android device, has actually been built by Cooliris.
