Looks like Micromax is planning to release a 4G smartphone in the coming weeks. An alleged image of this unnamed smartphone appeared on Twitter earlier today. The Twitter user, who shared this image, claims that the phone will come with NVIDIA’s Tegra 4i processor.
The leaked image reveals a smartphone, which looks exactly like French smartphone maker Wiko Mobile’s Wax smartphone. Like this upcoming Micromax phone, Wiko Wax is also powered by Tegra 4i processor. We believe that the leaked Micromax device is a re-branded smartphone and has mostly likely been built by some OEM under the orders of NVIDIA for both smartphone vendors, like the company did with Tegra Note tablet.
With not many manufacturers rushing to put NVIDIA chips in their smartphones, the company has chosen this new strategy of offering readymade devices to vendors in various markets. This way smartphone/ tablet vendors don’t have to spend any time on R&D and get ready devices and NVIDIA gets to sell its processors (embedded in these devices).
Coming back to the leak, given the Russian app names in the render, this Micromax 4G smartphone will probably be released in Russian market first, followed by an Indian debut, which makes sense given the availability 4G LTE networks in Russia, while they are still a scarcity in India.
The Micromax 4G phone will feature 4.7-inch 720p HD display, 8MP rear camera, 1.7GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 4i processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, 5MP front camera and Android 4.3.
There is no word on the pricing or exact launch date at this moment.
