Microsoft has announced that it has started rolling out a new software update for its X-series smartphones – Nokia X, XL and X+. The update is now available over-the-air (OTA) and brings select new features, which were recently introduced as a part of Nokia X2.
According to the company, the updated Nokia X smartphones will include the brand new app switcher, which can be accessed by swiping down from the top of the screen. In the app switcher, the users can select the app they want to switch to, or tap the X icon to close an app.
In addition, Microsoft has pre-installed some of its own services on the phones.
“Outlook.com, OneDrive and OneNote are all integrated, meaning that everybody now has access to their Outlook email, cloud storage, and really useful note-taking tools,” the company stated in a blog post.
Nokia X-series smartphones will also be getting improved Nokia Store with this update to help users in finding great apps or games. The Store update also include a new Home screen Spotlight widget for app discovery and one-click downloads.
“Nokia Store also integrates other third-party app stores, meaning all of your app exploring can be done under one roof, making for a consistent experience,” Microsoft explained.
Like most software updates, your phone will automatically notify of the available update or you can manually check for the update by going to settings > About phone > System updates > Check now.
