In addition to the brand new Xperia Z3 family, Japanese manufacturer Sony also took the wraps off the new Xperia E3 budget smartphone and Android-wear powered SmartWatch 3 in Berlin today.
Talking about Sony Xperia E3 first, the phone sports a 4.5-inch FWVGA display and comes with 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, 4G LTE support and 2330 mAh battery. The E3 also packs 5MP rear camera and a front camera. According to Sony, the phone will be released in both single-SIM and dual-SIM versions.
“We’re pleased to introduce Xperia E3, a handset that matches form with function at an affordable price point. E3 combines fast performance with impressive features, all wrapped in our flagship Z series design that you can be proud to show off,” said Calum MacDougall, Director of Product Marketing Programme, at Sony Mobile Communications.
Coming to SmartWatch 3, which is the first Android Wear device from the company. It features a 1.6-inch 320x20p TFT LCD Transflective display and packs a stainless steel back panel. Apart from the back, rest of the frame is plastic in the SmartWatch 3.
Among other features, it comes with built-in microphone, accelerometer, compass, gyroscope and GPS. It is also waterproof.
The SmartWatch 3 works in conjunction of Lifelog app and track the fitness data and health-related statistics. The usual Android Wear features like notifications support, Google Now cards and more are also present on the device.
On the customisation front, Sony will be offering extra colour straps in Pink and White colours after launch, while the SmartWatch 3 itself will be released in Classic (Black) and Sport (Lime) editions.
Pricing and availability:
Both Sony Xperia E3 and SmartWatch 3 will be available this autumn. The SmartWatch will retail for 229.99 euros, while the pricing of E3 is unclear.
