Amazon drops Fire phone price to just $199 without contract

Amazon Fire PhoneLooks like Amazon has realised that Fire phone is a failure and the e-retailer is now offering it for just $199 without contract, down from the launch price of $650. The US consumers, who wish to grab this experiment from Amazon, can now head over to the e-retail giant.

The phone still comes with free Prime subscription for one year, which is normally sold for $99, so overall the Amazon Fire phone is going to cost you just $100, which is a pretty decent deal.

In terms of raw specifications, Amazon Fire phone features a 4.7-inch HD display, 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, NFC, 4G LTE and 2400 mAh battery. The phone runs on Fire OS based on Android 4.2.2 and doesn’t include Google services or Play Store. Amazon bundles its own Appstore with the phone.

Fire OS packs a number of software enhancements including Dynamic Perspective, which is the USP of the Fire Phone. The feature uses the four specialized cameras and four infrared LEDs built on the front of the phone to provide cool utilities. The cameras and IR LEDs track user head movements and shift perspectives depending on a user’s activity. Users can also scroll through screens by tilting or swivelling the phone.

For the normal photography needs, the phone includes a 13MP primary camera with LED flash and 2.4MP front shooter.

The Fire phone price in UK and Germany remain unchanged for the moment.
