Facebook earlier today announced the launch of its brand-new standalone Groups app in Google Play. The new app is aimed at the users, who spend a lot of time in Facebook groups, thus giving them an app specifically for the purpose.
“Every month, 700 million people use Facebook Groups to stay in touch with family, collaborate on projects, plan trips and offer support to friends – and we built this app to help people share faster and more easily with all the groups in their life. With the Facebook Groups app, you can easily discuss, plan and collaborate – nothing gets lost in the shuffle of text messages or email, and you can choose how and when to receive notifications,” Facebook wrote in a press note.
According to Facebook, Groups app gives access to all of the Groups that a user is a member of, front and center. The app allows the users to visit the groups, share stuff, write updates, check out other members, see notifications, create new groups and get recommended groups.
If you don’t want a standalone Groups app, there is no worry. Facebook has stated that Groups will still be accessible via the main app, however we are not sure if the same is going to be the case forever or Facebook will go the Messenger way with Groups too.
