Micromax on Wednesday announced the launch of a new Android tablet in the country. Part of the company’s Canvas line-up, the new Canvas Tab P666 is powered by Intel’s dual-core Z2520 Atom processor.
“Our collaboration with Intel will be instrumental in our vision of creating a range of new mobile devices to meet the needs of both evolved as well as first-time users. At Micromax, we have always believed in bringing the most innovative solutions for our consumers by opting for smart partnerships,” said Vineet Taneja, Chief Executive Officer, Micromax.
According to Micromax, the tablet will retail for INR 10,999 and goes on sale beginning November 29 in White and Black colour options.
Coming to the specifications, Micromax Canvas Tab P66 sports an 8-inch IPS HD display and runs on Android 4.4. It packs 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, and microSD card slot. In addition, Micromax has included 5MP rear camera, 2MP front shooter, 4400 mAh battery, 3G and the usual connectivity options on the tablet.
Intel has stated that the Canvas Tab P666 is the first Intel-powered tablet to be assembled in India by Micromax. “It is one significant step in the direction of realizing the government’s ‘Make in India’ vision,” stated Debjani Ghosh, Vice President, Sales & Marketing Group, Managing Director, South Asia, Intel.
