Despite Motorola’s promise for quick software updates, most of the Motorola consumers are still waiting for Android 5.0 Lollipop update on their smartphones. Now, it seems that the wait might finally be coming to an end.
Motorola engineer Luciano Carvalho has revealed on Google+ that Lollipop update for Motorola smartphones from 2013 and 2014 is coming really soon. The company has already started soak tests of the latest update builds for most of the products in various regions and if everything goes well, the expanded roll-out will begin shortly.
Carvalho also clarified the reason of the delay in the update roll-out. He stated that a lots of bugs were identified in Lollipop after its release and they have since been fixing those and Motorola will be directly releasing Android 5.0.2 for its phones, skipping Android 5.0 and 5.0.1 entirely.
“Updates of this nature take time. It’s no secret that when 5.0 launched it still had bugs. And, when we update our products, we end up finding more bugs that need to be fixed. There are a lot of reasons for what that happen, but, basically, each phone has a unique set of components and a way they interact. When Google creates a new release, they don’t validate it for all the possible combinations there are, and they won’t fix anything that’s not reproducible on a Nexus device, that’s our job,” said Carvalho.
