Taiwanese manufacturer Acer on Thursday unveiled the new versions of its Iconia One 8 and Iconia Tab 10 slates. The new tablets includes minor improvements over the last-generation and run on Android 5.0.
According to Acer, the new Iconia One 8 B1-820 slate sports an 8-inch HD display and is powered by quad-core Intel Atom Z3735G processor. The tablet also comes with Acer’s Precision Plus technology, which offers a highly accurate touch and writing experience and makes the slate compatible with Acer Accurate Stylus (available separately). The company has also pre-loaded the device with its Iconia Suite of apps like EZ Note, EZ Wakeup, EZ Snap and EZ Gadget.
The new Acer Iconia Tab 10 A3-A30, on the other hand, packs a full HD 10.1-inch display with Gorilla Glass 4 and is powered by Intel Atom Z3735F quad-core processor. It is being targeted to the education market and is built with a reinforced front frame, which can withstand bending and twisting, something that is expected when kids are using the device.
“As technology has been incorporated more broadly across K-12 classrooms, schools want to deploy devices that are easy to use, durable, manageable, and budget-friendly, and can be used as the foundation for a lifetime of learning for students. The Acer Iconia Tab 10 for Education is an excellent choice for districts rolling out new technology throughout their entire school for 1:1 initiatives or even for a single mobile lab. The durable design, full HD display and interactive features will help make learning more creative and collaborative,” said Maverick Shih, president of Acer BYOC and Tablet Business Group.
