Japanese manufacturer Sony Mobile has quietly introduced its budget 4G smartphone Xperia E4g in the Indian market. The smartphone has been listed on the company website in the country with a price-tag of INR 13,290 and is expected to go on sale in the next few days.
The Xperia E4g is a variant of the company Xperia E4 smartphone and was originally unveiled in February this year. Sony’s Xperia E4 is already on sale in the country at INR 12,490.
According to Sony, Xperia E4g features a 4.7-inch qHD display, Android 4.4.4, 2300 mAh battery and 5MP rear camera. The smartphone is powered by 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6732 quad-core processor and packs 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, and microSD card slot.
There is a 2MP front shooter as well present in the phone along with dual-SIM card slots and the usual set of connectivity options.
As you can see these are some fairly basic specifications and similar specs are also offered by Moto E (2nd Gen) 4G smartphone, but the Motorola phone retails for just INR 7,999. The Sony phone will also have a hard time competing with the likes of Lenovo A6000, A6000 Plus, and Moto G (2nd Gen) in the country, all of which are priced below the E4g.
Apart from the availability in physical retail stores, there is simply no positive with the Sony phones and it is about time that the company realizes this and starts pricing its smartphones in-line with the market trends.
